This super sturdy, easy to install outdoor volume control can be used for one pair (two speakers). A pure resonance resistor-based volume control, it can handle up to 300 watts of optimal sound with minimal bass roll-off. The control board is prewired and the wires are clearly labeled, making installation easy, and this product can take the rigors of outdoor environments. You can use these along with one of our speaker selectors for a whole-house audio system at an affordable price.

Herb • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM I am using a Niles SSVC-6 speaker selector with Selectable Impedance Magnification. I have six pairs of speakers connected and the impedance selector set to 6 pairs. In the backyard I have a pair of Yamaha NS-AW350W speakers. I want to put a volume control outside with the Yamaha speakers. I was wondering if the OVC305R Stereo Outdoor Volume Control would work with this set-up. Thanks for any help!
    Customer Service • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM
Hi Herb: The OVC-305 is an ideal choice for your application. The OVC305R is a resistor based volume control that has no impedance matching but does have a broader frequency response than it transformer counterpart. The Niles Speaker Selector will handle the impedance matching and the OVC-305 will just control the volume without limiting the high or low frequencies. The other advantage to the OVC-305R is that it is a break before make setup . You will notice the music does not play between clicks. But when you turn the rotary knob to full off the Volume control turns off and disconnects the resistors from the signal. Good choice TS-2271
Rusty • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM Just finished construction of our pool/spa/patio (40'X55' deck). I ran your 14/2 burial speaker wire underground (before deck concrete was poured, from a dedicated receiver (Yamaha RX-377...100w X 2 @ 8ohms) on my covered patio to to O/S landscaped corners of the patio deck. Now it's time for speaker selection, hook-up, etc.. Planning on using OSD's RS 800 jr. Can I use 2 of the OVC305R's installed near each speaker (on 3/4" PVC mounted to a short 4X4 post and have separate volume control for each speaker? ...basically to have stereo balance control option from various locations on the patio deck.
    Customer Service • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM
Hi Rusty, Yes that is a very good set up for your outdoor patio, as long as you want separate control for each speaker. You could have 2 speakers to one volume control if you wanted to do that instead. CS 2551
Steve • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM I'm looking to purchase OVC305R to control a pair of TIC GS5's. I would like to flush mount the VC and faceplate into a standard electrical "bell weatherproof" box. Can this been done? I would flush mount the electrical box behind my outdoor siding to hide the conduit in the fireplace "framing"...
    Customer Service • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM
Hi Steve, I'm not 100% sure it will fit, but if it does fit it's definitely okay as long as it's weather proofed. You can remove the internal volume control from the box by popping the knob off, unscrewing the bolt, then removing the faceplate.
Joseph • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM I'm looking to install this flush mounted to a boxed wooden pillar/column - is that possible or does this have to be externally mounted in it's 1 gang pvc box to still be considered weather resistant.
    Customer Service • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM
Hi Joseph, Correct - the outdoor volume controls are only weather-resistant due to the box they are enclosed in. Removing the internal control from the box would make it susceptible to the elements.
Bryan • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM I have 4 each aw6500 Definitive outdoor speakers, I want to put two of these speakers on one volume control. Would this be the one I need to order?
    Customer Service • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM
Hi Bryan, It would probably be best to use an impedance-matching volume control such as the OVC300.
