Can this speaker used as a surround on a 5.1 speaker set up?
Customer Service • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM
Hi Pablo,
Yes of course! You can run it as your surround back or your front left/right. If you want a slightly higher quality sound, check out the AP525 - same size but a higher definition sound. Let us know if that helps. Thanks!

says the temp rating is -20. We get temps below that, rarely and short lived, how long can it take lower temps?
Customer Service • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM
Hi David:
We suggest taken your outdoor speakers in for the winter to extend their life. Are you actually trying to use them during these temperature extremes or just want to leave them permanently mounted and not touch them after they have been installed? The AP520 is a sealed enclosure that does not have to deal with a port like some of our other Patio speakers that may be susceptible to taken on water internally. We have heard many stories about our outdoor speakers still out there playing after being in extreme heat of the Arizona desert or from the extreme cold climates north of you.
I hope that helps

Live on the Intracoastal with a salt air environment. Are the mounting brackets aluminum or steel?
Customer Service • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM
Hi Don:
The factory confirmed these are Rustproof Powder Coated Steel then added there should be no problem unless in an area with heavy Acid Rain or near salt water. It is the same with the grill as well on these speakers.

Will these speakers in a jeep or boat?
Customer Service • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM
Hi John:
Would not recommend in your or Boat. There are companies that specialize in Marine Speakers that are set up better for the elements especially salt water. Maybe for your Jeep but I would recommend our AP525 especially if you are planning to have the top down or off. Both the AP525 and AP650 have our highest rating for direct exposure to the elements. They also have unique Mounting bracket that swivels and tilts for more flexibility when mounting the speaker.

I'm looking at two the AP525 and AP520 speakers and am confused by the specs. The AP525 state 120 watts of power, but in the specs state 100W power cap, and Freq Response of 45-20K, 90 DB sensitivity for $70. The AP520 states 100 power in the description, but lists the Power cap at 120W, and Freq Req of 45-22K, 88 DB sensitivity for $60. I must be missing something because the only advantage f the AP525 is the higher sensitivity rating. Can you please clarify? Thanks.
Customer Service • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM
Hi Gary:
The AP525 and the step up AP650 are newer designs that features a new composite cabinet material, Unique two way mounting system which swivel and tilts. The speakers also have the highest certification; IP-6X for direct exposure to the elements. Internally there is a true level 2 crossover network as well. The AP520 features a level 1 crossover with just a resistor protecting the Tweeter. Yes the AP525 has a 90dB sensitivity vs 88dB for the AP520. So it takes less power to drive the AP525.
They also have a better sound quality. So we feel it is a better overall value.
