What size amp should I use to properly power the AP640 speakers?
Customer Service • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM
Hi John:
If you are planning to drive just these two speakers I would start with our AMP120. If your looking to do more possibly adding a second pair or even a speaker selector then the AMP200 has a lot more flexibility plus a true audiophile sound quality. There is a reason it is over double the price of the AMP120.

My amp has 7x105 w output but these speakers quite compare to my 5 other 150w speakers. I have a 16 gauge cable under 20 feet to all of them. What can I do?
Customer Service • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM
HI Karsten:
It sounds like you have Audio Video Receiver that has 5 speakers currently connected to your speaker outputs. Do you mean 5 each connected to the basic five speaker output for a 5.1 Home Theater setup. Front Stage; Right, Center and Left and a pair of surrounds, Right and Left for five total channels of your 7.1 Receiver. Are you trying to use our AP640 for side surround channels 6 and 7 (for a 7.1 system)? Or attempting to connect these AP640 stereo pair to a second zone output? I just need a little more info to allow me to properly address your application/question.

when will this item be in stock?
Customer Service • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM
Hi Nim,
The AP640 will be available at the end of the month. As an alternative, take a look at the AP650. They are the top of the line in the 6.5" size. I have a pair myself and can't recommend them enough. The sound quality is superb.

im building a patio, and i want to put two speakers, one on left side and one on right side as you walk out to patio from house. what do i need besides these speakers? if possible i would like receiver outside installed flushed in wall.
Customer Service • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM
Hi Mark,
For a basic outdoor patio system, we recommend a pair of patio speakers placed 8 to 10 feet apart, somewhere protected from the direct elements. A nice addition is an outdoor volume control like our OSD-OVC300. The source can be a small 2 channel receiver like the Sherwood RX4105 or one of our 2- Channel Power Amplifiers like our OSD-AMP120. You can plug in your iPod, iPhone or connect directly to a computer for unlimited choices of streaming content or iTunes Library. Your speaker placement will be based upon accessibility to the speaker wire from your source. We also offer new WPA-650 Wireless Patio Speakers as an option but you still have to find a place to connect the power supply (AC outlet) and a speaker wire between the two patio speakers. I hope that helps and thank you for considering OSD branded products.

do these speakers have to have protection from the elements
Customer Service • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM
Hi Dennis,
The AP640 patio speaker has a ported design and should be installed under eaves. If your application calls for direct exposure, we recommend the AP525s as an alternative.
