Does the AP640 have a crossover ?r. Would also be interested in knowing if the AP840 has a crossover and what the crossover frequencies are for both .
Thanks
Customer Service • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM
Hi LJ:
Both the AP 840 and AP 640 have level one (6dB) crossover which means they both have a single resistor that's value is an octave below the resonant frequency of the Tweeter. The Mid woofer rolls off naturally. The crossover point is 2800 Hz for both. You would need to look at the AP525, AP650 and AP670 for a level 2 crossover (12 dB). I am trying to verify that info as well and will post the specs for all on their respective pages,

I have recently purchased a projector and 100 inch screen and I am looking for additional speakers for outdoor movie watching. The projector does not have Bluetooth capability. Would these speakers be sufficient or would I need more than just these speakers to receive the best experience?
Customer Service • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM
Hi Sheryl:
It depends on how many speaker you want to put outside and whether they would be exposed directly to the elements. Our AP-650 speakers have a higher weatherproofing rating IP-6X since they are a sealed design versus ported design of the AP-640 (notice the slot on the left side of the speaker. These AP-650 are identical to the BTP-650 without the internal Bluetooth Receiver and stereo power amp. How many speakers are you looking for your outdoor theater? Are you adding a sub as well? I have a Tivoli tabletop satellite radio in my shop. I want to add some outdoor patio speakers to it so when I'm outside in the yard I can hear it and also use it when I'm in the shop. It only has one speaker on the top of it but it does have a jack for headphones. Can I use a 3.5 to 2 RCA adapter to plug into a AMP 120 and have a pair of AP640's for outside and a pair of AP450s for in the shop? I'd like to be able to switch from shop to yard and I believe the AMP120 will aloow this. Does this sound like it will work, if not what do you recommend??
Customer Service • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM
Hi Mark:
Take a look at the XMP100, a newer Class D amplifier that that has the same output but because it is 93% efficient versus 50% found on the Class AB of the AMP120. So you can run both pair of speakers at the same time. Both the AMP120 and XMP 100 have Speaker A and B switches on the front but since we did not recommend playing both pair of speakers at once so when you push Speaker A button Speaker B pops out and vice a versa when you press in B. A little safeguard. The XMP100 amp's switched operate the same way but you can press both buttons in at the same time. With the more efficient Power Supply the amp stays cooler even when playing the two speakers in parallel (a 4 ohm load). You just want to connect the Tivoli with the 3.5mm to dual RCA which plug into the Main inputs of the XMP-100

Can I connect to android or I pad?
Customer Service • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM
Hi Lillie:
You will need an amplifier like our XMP100 to power these speakers from your iPad or or Android device. But you will also need a hard wire connection between your device and the XMP100 like a 3.5mm to RCA adaptor so you plug the 3.5mm connector into your headphone jack of your device then connect to the input on the XMP100. Then of course you have to run speaker wire from XMP100 to the speakers.
Would be a nice system...
WE do also have Bluetooth Patio speakers that receive Bluetooth wireless transmission to the Master Speaker. Checkout the BTP650.

I am wanting to put speakers on the patio and connect to the TV for music/ballgames. I know nothing about what it takes. Is this a hard wire system and what is difficulty level of installationaor how does it connect
Customer Service • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM
Hi Jamie:
You have couple of choices when connecting the sound for/from your TV. First you can connect directly to your source like a cable box or satellite receiver. In some cases depending on where you place your set top box this will allow you to have everything inside and just run speaker wires to the speakers mounted around the TV. The second choice would involve wiring directly from the audio output of the TV to an external amplifier then to your speakers. This can be effective especially if the volume levels are controlled by the TV (remote). You might also tie in with a Audio Video Receiver as a zone 2 connection again with an external amplifier. Please do not hesitate to ask additional questions. You can contact me at tim@osdaudio.com. It would be helpful if you can tell me what components you already have including brand and model numbers. I would definitely go with the AP650 versus the AP650 our highest rated outdoor speaker (sealed versus the ported AP640). Include images of your proposed TV and electronics locations.
Good luck
