Are these rated at 150 watts RMS or 150 watts peak? Also, why are there 2 different versions picture of the black pair on your website. One has a white LF cone with and inverted dust cap and the other is standard black LF cone?
Customer Service • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM
Hello:
The speaker is rated at 150 Watts peak, 100 watts RMS. Sorry for the confusion on the cones. The AP525 has the black cone and the AP650 has the Silver/White cone the same one featured on our AP670.

I have a Kenwood KR-3060, will these speakers be a good match for my receiver? If not what would you recommend?
Customer Service • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM
Hi Patrick:
The AP650 is a great choice.
Totally sealed cabinet, IP6X rated 100% dust free. Also has a unique mounting bracket both swivels and tilts. PLus available in white or black finish. And they sound good as well.

I'm looking for a great value outdoor speaker. I saw good reviews on the AP670, especially about its good bass. The reviews were concerned about the front ports on an outdoor speaker. Then I found this one, the AP650, which seem to be the successor of the AP670 (why the lower model number?). It somehow has lower frequency response (without front ports) and better spec overall. I couldn't find any reviews of this speaker. How would you compare this speaker sound to the AP670?
Customer Service • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM
Hi Joe:
The AP650 probably should have been renamed AP650MKII. The new design introduced over a year ago with a new Hybrid Cabinet, a unique Mounting Bracket that swivels and tilts, and it is IP:6X certified rating, 100% sealed from Dust. The cabinet is also 2 inches smaller than the AP670. Specs slightly improved as well vs. the AP670 which has been around for more than eight years in its current design. So do not be fooled by the lower number designation since the new AP650 replaced one of our most popular speakers with additional increases in applications and sales.

PS: It is also available in a Bluetooth Speaker Kit and a 70V version.

Thank you for your answer, but my main question was about sound comparison with AP670. Does it sound at least as good as the AP670? Having a smaller box and no ports, can it produce the same bass which made the AP670 famous?
Joe • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM
How would you compare the sound of the AP650 to the AP670? Being a smaller speaker with no ports, can it match the bass capabilities of the AP670?
Customer Service • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM
Hi Joe:
The AP670 has been around for more than eight years; they are an excellent design with good overall sound quality. They do have dual ports so not recommended for direct exposure to the elements. The AP650 is a new design now two years on the market. The AP670 got rave reviews for their bass output, but the AP650 goes down to 37Hz versus 45Hz of the AP670. The AP650 is 100% sealed and in fact, has an IP6X outdoor rating (100% Dustproof). The AP650 also features a bracket that swivels and tilts so more flexibility when aiming the speaker for best coverage. You can not go wrong either way.
