The FORZA8 is a compact but powerful outdoor in-ground subwoofer that delivers outstanding bass with up to 250 Watts of power handling and a built-in crossover network to filter low frequencies and enhance your outdoor sound experience. Easy to pair with existing Omni satellite speakers like our FORZA850 Omni speaker, adding the FORZA8 can make a remarkable difference in the sound quality of an outdoor system because it handles the bass and allows existing speakers to focus on mid and high frequencies. If you’re worried about the elements damaging the sub, fear not. The FORZA8 is built of a heavy-duty ABS plastic that is specially treated and sealed to protect components from water, dust, dirt, snow, and anything else mother nature throws at it. Whether you’re watching a movie outside with the neighbors or simply chilling poolside with tunes, you’ll notice the difference in sound quality to second you hit “play” and actually hear the music over the bubbling noise of the hot tub or windy backyard patio.

    Why Add an Outdoor Subwoofer?
There’s nothing like listening to your favorite tunes while gardening or relaxing on the deck or by the pool. However, a good outdoor sound system can be transformed into great simply by adding a subwoofer. Unlike satellite outdoor speakers that produce mid and high frequencies, the subwoofer has one job—to produce bass notes. Because the sub handles the low frequencies, your other speakers can focus the frequencies they are designed to reproduce, those mids and highs. The result is a crisper, more immersive experience from music and movie soundtracks.

    What Is an Omni Subwoofer?
Omni-directional speakers radiate sound evenly in a 360° pattern. Omni speakers are well suited for outdoor environments which have acoustic properties that are difficult to control. Unlike your living room where directional speakers distribute sound by reflecting off walls and other surfaces, outdoor speakers function in open spaces without walls to reflect sound or carpet to absorb it. In addition, with directional speakers, you’ll hear sound from the speaker you’re close to but may struggle to hear the other channel. Because Omni speakers disperse sound in all directions, you’ll hear great sound whether you’re sitting down or walking around the backyard.

Do I need special cable to run outdoor speakers?
We strongly recommend our direct burial,CL3/FT4 waterproof cable and wire connectors that are designed for the outdoors. Our speaker wire uses a specially formulated UV-resistant, white polyethylene jacket that provides protection against water damage and allows the cables to withstand extreme weather conditions like rain, snow and high temperatures and incorporate twice the insulation of average cable. If you plan to bury the cable, OSD recommends you bury it 4-6" underground so that it's not visible nor pose a danger of somebody tripping over it. Our speaker cable is ideal to use in direct burial applications. As for the gauge, for runs up to 100 feet for background music, 16-gauge will be fine. If the run is approaching or exceeding 100 feet, we suggest 14-gauge wire.

    Add Volume Controls
Volume controls can be a great addition to a system providing both proper impedance matching and more hands-on local control of the volume in the listening area. We offer a great selection of outdoor volume controls to choose from here!!

Jacob Simmons • 10/30/2020, 10:22:00 AM Do you need an amplifier for this sub?
    Customer Service • 12/08/2020, 3:18:23 AM
Hi Jacob: The FORZA8 has an internal crossover and two stereo outputs so you can take Full Range amplifier like our AMP200 or XMP300 and drive the Sub and a pair of satellites showing the amplifier a 4-ohm load, The AMP needs to be able to handle two pair of speaker wired in parallel 8+8 = 4-ohm. You can drive the FORZA a8 with a single dedicated power Amp like our SMP200. or bigger. Good luck TL/12/8/20
Joseph Czop • 05/03/2021, 4:22:14 PM I was going to purchase this subwoofer with a amplifier I have and purchase some speakers here to connect to that same amplifier. Is that an issue or can I do that with this subwoofer?
    Customer Service • 05/10/2021, 12:08:10 PM
Hi Joseph: This Subwoofer has four-conductor input wires to connect to your amplifier. Plus a four-conductor output speaker wire to connect to a pair of 8-ohm speakers. The subwoofer at 8-ohm and an 8-ohm pair of speakers will present a 4-ohm load at the amplifier. Check the specs of your amplifier. TimL/5-10
CB • 08/08/2021, 10:46:50 AM Since this is an outdoor speaker, are there problems with animals - mice, etc. nesting in it?
    Customer Service • 08/09/2021, 3:08:14 AM
Hi CB: The enclosure is sealed both the top and the bottom. The only open area features a down firing 8" Woofer featuring some pretty good sound pressure, so visitors would be only temporary. TL/8-9-21
Derrin Chambers • 09/13/2021, 6:08:53 PM I just want to hook up the sub woofer directly to the receiver without the satellites. Not sure how to connect it to get the best sound quality...My receiver has a single input for the sub that I prefer to use? Greatly appreciate the support with this product.
    Customer Service • 09/29/2021, 0:57:23 AM
Hi Derrin: When you connect this subwoofer and a pair of 8-ohm Satellite speakers, there is a right and left stereo to hook up, so the Receiver sees an 8-ohm load for the sub and an 8-ohm load for the Satellites speakers in parallel, so it creates a 4-ohm burden. Suppose you connect your hero with a single plus and minus connection. In that case, you need to tie the single two-conductor in parallel with the dual two-conductor inputs two positive and two negatives in parallel with a net 4-ohm load for the Receiver. Most AVR and many stereo amplifiers with subwoofer outputs feature a Preamp signal (low) level and need a dedicated subwoofer amplifier. What is the make and model of the Receiver you have? tim@osdaudio.com TL/9/28/2021
RYAN • 08/02/2022, 3:08:56 PM I would like to put together a system that includes this subwoofer, 4 satellite speakers, and a volume control. Can I wire 4 satellite speakers off of this sub (post crossover)? What would the be the best way to wire it?
    Customer Service • 08/22/2022, 8:31:37 PM
Wire the Subwoofer from your 4-ohm stable Amplifier, then wire it to an outdoor Impedance Matching Volume control before wiring it to the two pairs of 8-ohm satellite speakers: either wire the two satellites home run or daisy chain (both in parallel). Could you make sure to set the VC to 4X? You will want to run ample power to the sub and two satellites. Check out our XMP500DSP or AMP300. Good luck; TimL 8-22-2022
