Alan • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM Can you make a recommendation for equipment based on this criteria? We're considering these speakers for an outdoor coaching situation. We plan to lead participants with a coach using a wireless microphone through an amplifier. The space we're using is approximately 100' X 80'. There will be a mid to higher level of ambient noise.

Hi Alan, For an outdoor space where ambient noise is high, you’ll want a speaker located about every 10 feet. Consider installing 3-4 pairs of 8" speakers. The AP840s have an 8-inch woofer cone and are an excellent choice. You could also go with several pairs of our AP660 high power patio speakers with horn-type tweeter, which is designed for commercial installations such as in busy lobbies or stadiums: speakerhttp://www.outdoorspeakerdepot.com/aphipopasp.html. Also consider installing the DSM4 speaker selector and AMP200, depending on the type of input for your wireless microphone. CL/MA 1744
Carson Baird • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM i have always assume a pair to be two it seems like the ifo. above mentions one speaker as a pair. please state which is correct.
    Customer Service • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM
Hi Carson, A quantity of 1 equals a pair, or two speakers. We apologize for any confusion. CL/MA1866
Scott • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM Can these be installed where rain and snow will fall directly on them?
    Customer Service • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM
Hi Scott, All OSD Audio outdoor speakers are designed for inclement weather; however, for direct exposure such as rain and snow, consider a speaker that does not have a bass port as water can get into the port. The AP520 patio set is better suited for direct exposure. CL/MA 1928
Scott • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM Can these be installed where rain and snow will fall directly on them?
    Customer Service • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM
Hi Scott, For direct exposure consider a speaker with no bass port for the water to get in. The AP520 would be better suited for direct exposure. CL 1928
Bruce • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM How does the 840 compare to the 650. What you you recommend?
    Customer Service • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM
Hi Bruce, Both the AP840 and AP650 are both excellent patio speakers. The main differences are in size of the woofers and the power handling capabilities. The AP840 has an 8” woofer and up to 200W power handling, while the AP640 has a 6.5” driver with 150W power handling. The 8” woofer will handle lower frequencies (bass) better than the 6.5” woofer due to the larger size cone. However, the AP650 is the best in its size and outputs plenty of bass and volume without being too bulky. If you have a large area to fill and, think about the AP840s but double check that the dimensions of these large speakers will work for your application. CL/MA 1985
