Dual Source Switching
The AMP300 also includes dual source switching to connect two audio sources and toggle between them for greater listening flexibility. Automatic source switching switches between connected sources with a priority signal-sensing feature, so if a DVD player is connected to input 2, then you decide to stream a movie through a game console, when the console is turned on, the AMP300 automatically switches to that source. The AMP300 also includes a variable delay control that lets you adjust the amount of time needed to "listen" for a signal from your main input, between 3 and 15 seconds. This prevents gaps between music tracks from accidentally switching your inputs. This high power amplifier includes two RCA signal level inputs so with the addition of an RCA-to-mini stereo cable (sold separately), you can connect your smartphone or other device.

I have a Marantz SR7010 receiver with 4 Definitive BP8060STs (well all speakers in picture). Not worried about center and Atmos speakers (receiver can push those). What amp would best push the 4 towers though for clean, loud and clear sound? Want to see what the towers can actually do with proper power.

Can I use BOTH speaker A and Speaker B outs from the AMP300 into the SAME 4-zone (Dual-source) speaker selector (Russound SDB 4.1)? Will this improve power per zone if I select Speaker B for 2 zones and Speaker B for the other 2 zones? Or is it ill-advised to pull the AMP300 into the same selector through both the A + B simultaneously? Thank you.

In theory, you can connect Speaker A to Zones 1 and 2 and Speaker B to Zones 3 and 4 of the Russound SDB 4.1. Technically you would be lowering the load to 4 ohms and getting more output from the AMP300. You may need to change the impedance setting on the Russound 4.1 internally (owners manual talks about removing the cover to access the jumpers) to 2X for all zones. The unit comes with all jumpers set to 4X. The three internal settings are 2X, 4X, and 8X refer to how many 8 ohm connections you are making. And if you are only connecting 2 zones to both Speaker A and Speaker B you are making only 2X. I believe that will get the maximum output from the AMP300. You need a good High Current Power Amplifier like the OSD AMP300 to accomplish this.

Can I hook up an Onkyo TX-8050 to this amp and how?

Yes, you can connect the AMP300 to the ONKYO TX-8050. It would be hooked up to the ZONE2 output of the ONKYO Receiver using an RCA stereo patch cord. It would not affect the main Speaker A or Speaker B output of the ONKYO.

I’ve got a 6-zone system of ceiling speakers with a pair of 75W, 8 ohm speakers per zone. All speakers are individually home run wired back to an Audioplex Opt-6, 6-zone speaker selector with impedance protection. In the past 3 years I have fried (2) Audio Source AMP100VS 2-channel amplifiers so obviously I’m doing something wrong or I have improperly powered equipment. Hoping the AMP300 will fix it. The switch has 2 input zones but I have the stereo amp bridged (amp says 150W max at 8 ohms) to a single input (A) on the selector switch since all speakers play together. It played fine till I turned it up a little (not even super loud) then I could hear distortion in the speakers and the amp smoked. Any suggestions would be appreciated and if you think this amp is suited for my set up.

Hi Mark:
The Audiosource AMP100 is similar to our Amp120; I would not have recommended either of these amplifiers for your application. There are what we refer to as chip amplifier's that feature IC components in the audio section. The IC's amp designs are entry level compared to our OSD AMP200 or AMP300. Both are High Current Amplifiers with plenty of headroom and true audiophile sound quality. There is a reason the AMP300 weights 35 pounds versus 8 pounds of the AS AMP100/OSD AMP120. You will want to set the AMP300 to Stereo Mode for your application. Also you might want to consider purchasing two of the AMP200 and use the first AMP200 for source A and the second for Source B. The Audioplex Speaker selector features independent Aor B source per zone so you can play source A for zones 1, 3 and 5 and then Source B for Zones 2, 4 and 6 or any combination you need. You could also have a powered sub in two different zones each connected to an AMP200 line 2 output. You could even hook up an Amazon Alexa Echo Dot, or Google Chrome Cast Audio or even SONOS Connect to each AMP200 and control your sources remotely either through your phone or in the case of the echo with your voice. And it's a great weekend to buy one or more of these streaming devices.
