Whats the proper speaker wire? 16 gauge 24 gauge ?
Customer Service • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM
Russell,
For runs up to 100ft you can use the standard 16-2 for this speaker. 100-150 ft you should use a 14 gauge, after 150ft I would recommend a 12 gauge speaker cable

We also offer a four conductor 16 and 14 gauge if you were to add an in-line volume control to your outdoor location. The four conductor would be from the Amplifier/Receiver to the Volume control then the 2 conductor to the indivdual speaker. The length to gauge ratio will be the same.

The web description says they're weatherproof but the instructions in the box says they're not waterproof so hide them from the weather under the eaves?! I have attached them to an outside wall exposed to the rain - is the weather going to damage them? If so the online description is misleading.
Customer Service • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM
HI Hamish:
These speakers are sealed unlike some of our Patio speakers that feature a tuning port that has tendency to fill the speaker cabinet up with water when exposed to direct rain or snow. The AP525 feature stainless steel componets and rust-proof aluminum grills. You should be fine... some people bring their speakers inside when they know they're not going to listen to them for an extended period.

I understand that the sender must be plugged in to an a/c outlet. What are the requirements of the outdoor speakers as to wireing or power?
Customer Service • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM
Hi David:
These Patio speakers are not wireless. They need a hard wired signal from the music source either the Amplifier or Receiver connected by speaker wire. We recommend 16 gauge two conductor for both the left and right speaker up to 100 foot from the source (14 Gauge for longer runs). The speakers receives the powered signal from the source through the speaker wires. We stock the recommended speaker wire which features a CL3 rating approved for in-wall and outdoor installation. Check out the in-wall speaker wire, CL-3 in 50, 100 and 250 foot lengths under the audio/video cables tab.

Seth Potash • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM
Can the swivel bracket me mounted on the ceiling and if so, can the bracket be tightened where it attaches to the speaker to keep the speaker in position once mounted?
Customer Service • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM
Hi Seth:
The bracket is designed to mount either vertically or horizontially so the set screws were designed to tighten the speaker in place. You just need to make sure the brackets are secured to the ceiling.
