The ISS4 High Power Speaker Selector is an easy and effective way to distribute music to up to four listening zones (four pairs of speakers) and play any pair, a combination of pairs, or all pairs simultaneously. Easy to connect with a low-profile design that easily fits into a cabinet or equipment rack.n choose. Front-panel push buttons let you quickly turn each pair of speakers on or off independently, and die cut labels fit within the recessed area on the buttons for easy labeling of each zone. A passive device that does not require power to operate, the ISS4 also includes impedance-matching circuitry so you can safely drive all four pairs at once without damaging your receiver or amp. Designed with quality in mind, the ISS4 is constructed of 16-gauge steel with a durable black powder coating and gray silk-screening.

    Features
    • Distributes audio from a receiver or amp to multiple pairs of speakers
    • Send one signal to up to four pairs of speakers in different listening zones
    • Impedance protection allows a single amplifier to safely power multiple speakers
    • Removable input/output connectors allow easy cable termination
    • Includes on/off switches for each zone
    • Low profile with beautiful black brushed aluminum finish
    • Works with any amplifier
    • Includes a two-year warranty
    Upgraded Input/Output Connectors
The ISS4 is easy to install (even for non-technical types) and accepts up to 14-gauge cable. The European-style input/output connectors are removable, which gives you better leverage when terminating cable than traditional spring-loaded terminals. This speaker selector takes either four or two conductor speaker wire stripped at the ends that are inserted into the screw-down input/output terminals for a tight fit to ensure the best signal transmission and sound quality possible.

Protecting Valuable Audio Equipment with Impedance Protection
When connecting multiple speakers to a receiver or amplifier, you need to stay above the amp's minimum load requirements. Going below the impedance rating can overheat or even damage expensive equipment. The ISS4 includes selectable impedance matching protection circuitry that allows a single amplifier to safely power several pairs of speakers. The speaker selector handles 140 watts per channel total input power without the manual protection engaged and 70 watts per channel with the protection engaged.

win • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM Hi. I am using this with zone 2 output of my onkyo 609 for two pair of speakers (bed room and patio). Onkyo says 6 ohm minimum. The speakers are 8 ohm. Is this all right with this set up ? Would it sacrifice any quality, volume etc? Thanks
    Customer Service • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM
Hi Win, The Zone 2 you’re referring to is intended for a pair of speakers. Ideally, for 4 more zones you would add an amp like our AMP200. What you could do is hook the ISS4 up with what you have now and see if the Onkyo is giving you enough power and go from there. You may notice when playing more than one pair at a time you have less volume capability. In this case you could add an amp. All the components we sell are 8 ohm so they will work fine with your Onkyo receiver. CL/MA 1303
robert yoder • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM Can I use one of the outputs on SSVC4 Speaker Selector to drive the input of the ISS4? I was looking at the SSVC6 when it was still a dual input, but appears you have modified them as on/off instead of dual input.
    Customer Service • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM
Hi Robert, We offer the DSM6 which is dual source; however, doubling up on speaker selectors is not recommended. Have you considered using volume controls in each zone rather than on the speaker selector? CL/MA 1350
Scott • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM Can this ISS4 be safely used as an amplifier switch -- i.e. used in reverse -- if the impedance protection circuit is disabled?
    Customer Service • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM
Hi Scott, The ISS4 speaker selector should work as long as the protection button is disabled. Our ATM7 speaker selector has the two-way feature. This unit is dual source with 7 outputs or 7 sources with 2 outputs. TL/MA 1435
Gerry Brostek • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM I am looking for a selector that will handle only 3 sets of speakers. I am afraid if I use a 4 set model and just leave the 4th one off all the time, that power will be directed through resistors to maintain impedance, and just waste electricity. Does that happen? I leave all 3 sets on 24/7, I really don't use the on/off buttons ever. I'm just trying to balance the impedance of 3 sets of 8 ohm speakers. Is this unit going to make me happy or should I look elsewhere?
    Customer Service • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM
Tim: Hi Gerry, The lack of a fourth speaker should have no effect since you have an on/off switch for each zone and would just leave the fourth zone in the off position. Our updated ISS4 also comes with removable input/output connectors that provide improved connectivity. Just remember to keep the protection switch in while you are playing the three pair 24/7. It certainly will be an improvement over your previous selector. TL/MA 1451
gerry brostek • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM If I use the ISS4 and I DONT engage the protection circuit, and I run 3 sets of 8 ohm speakers, what impedance will my receiver see? And if I DO engage the protection circuit, what impedance will my receiver see? I am trying to upgrade from a crappy RADIO SHACK unit. It worked fine with no bells or whistles and no overload circuit, and never had any problems. However, the switches were sketchy and wore out quickly. Im looking to buy a unit and leave all 3 sets on 24/7.
    Customer Service • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM
Hi Gerry, Most of the early designs of speaker selectors had some sort of automatic protection in order to work long term. It prevented units from coming back from customers who did not understand the importance of using the protection switch when playing two or more pairs of speakers. I'm not sure you are going to notice a big difference from 3 to 4 zones. You could use independent volume controls for each zone (if your wiring is accessible) or purchase either our AMP200 or AMP300 and connect the three 8-ohm pairs in parallel so you have a 2.6-ohm load. This way you'll get the most out of the amplifier while not cutting half the power by adding the resistors in-line in the speaker selector. It would help to know what speakers are you using, what kind of amplification you have and and how old it is. TL/MA 1452
