The SSVC4 is low-profile table top volume controls with individual A/B input selectors for each listening zone. The SVC300, a 300 watt autoformer volume control is utilized in each SSVC for uncompromised sound quality and performance. The screw down terminals to 14 gauge cable. The SSVC's feature 16 gauge steel construction with our durable black wrinkle powder coating and gray silk-screening. Compatible with all high-power amps up to 300W, the front-mounted master A/B switch allows you to toggle between two audio sources; for instance, switch from music streamed from your tablet or receiver with just a push of a button.

Does this switch support stereo speakers for each zone?
If I wire zone 2 of my amplifier into the input will i be able to hook up 2 speakers in 4 different locations?

Hi Nathan:
Most AVR recommend connecting a single speaker to ZONE 2 or ZONE 3 where applicable. They discourage adding more than one set of speakers, speaker selectors or even impedance matching volume controls to the speaker level ZONE 2 output. The output is for a single 8 ohm pair of speakers and that is it. All channels share a common power supply and all channels recommend a single speaker to it like your right front, center and left front. But most Audio Video Receivers feature a ZONE 2 Pre Amp where they recommend you connect to an external Power Amplifier like our AMP200. You would then connect the SSVC4 which features four internal Impedance Matching Volume Controls each with stereo output and individual On/off switches per zone. It also has dual source with individual a or b switches per zone. The external amp with the SSVC4 is an excellent combination.

Can you use 4 ohm speakers with this? if so, is there a special way of wiring them or same as normal?

Hi Brett:
Whether you are using a single pair of 4 ohm speakers and (3) 8 ohm speakers or all 4 ohm speakers. you need to calculate the 4 ohm speaker as (2) 8 ohm speakers. So if you have a pair of 4 ohm speakers (counted as 2) and 3 pair of 8 ohm speakers (counted as 3) so 2 + 3 = 5, so the setting would technically be 8X but depending on if you are planning to play all the zones at once or depending what amplifier you are using you can get away with 4X for all. If you are using all 4 ohm speakers so your calculation would be 2 for each pair of 8 ohm speakers so 2 x 4 = 8 so setting on all pins would be 8X. There are 6 pins behind each internal Volume Control. Pin 1-2 = 1X, pin 2-3 = 2x, pin 4-5 = 4X and pin 5-6 = 8X. There is a jumper that connects the two pins at a time.
Lastly you wire the 4 ohm speaker exactly the same as the 8 ohm.

Can this be used on a 70v system?

The SSVC4 does not work on a 70V system but we are developing a new Mono two zone 70V with thru output so you can daisy chain multiple 2 zone for 2, 4, 6 or even 8 zone. Each channel will have 100 watt mono internal volume control associated with plus a on/off switch per zone. It is probably 60 day s out. In the interim check out our line of MVC 70V mono volume controls featuring a true thru output connection allowing you to daisy chain multiple volume controls while creating independent zones.. In three sizes 100W, 50W and 25W.

I need to control 7 zones. Can I daisy chain two SSVC4 selectors in order to do that? Thanks!

Hi Perry:
Yes you can use 2 SSVC4 but we have recommended going with either our
Powerful High Current AMP200 or AMP300 and running a SSVC4 off each speaker output (A&B). One to speaker A and the other to Speaker B. You can even run two amps and have both amps connecting speaker A and speaker B and use the dual source option selectable per each independent zone. So you connect AMP #1 Speaker A to Source A on first SSVC4, then Speaker B to Source A on the second SSVC4. The second amplifier would connect Speaker A to Source B of the first SSVC4 and then Speaker B to Source B of the second SSVC4. Now you have 8 zones for either the single AMP setup or the two amp dual source setup.

I currently have an Omage SS-4R which I believe is a resistor based switch. I have an Onkyo TX-NR5009 which was their flagship receiver back in the day and outputs 140wpc. I currently have 4 pair of speakers wired to the switch powered by Zone 3 on the Onkyo. What benefit will I see by getting this switch to replace my resistor based one? (besides the volume controls?)

The Omage SS-4R is similar to our ISS4 which is also resistor based but has manual switch for the protection. We usually recommend adding impedance matching volume controls and bypassing the internal protection. When the protection switch is enabled and signal is diverted through the resistors the power handling is cut in half 140 watts to 70 watts. The SSVC4 has the impedance matching volume controls built in (300 watts peak, 150 watts RMS per each) Not only do they do the heavy lifting (protection) they give you additional control for each zone. Plus you have dual source option per zone between source A and B. There is also a manual on/off switch per zone as well. Good match for the ONKYO Receiver. Usually we recommend adding an external amplifier but the ONKYO typically is a high current amplifier that has the current o handle the application.
