Can the ACE670 be used of Dolby Atmos even though it does not specifically state that it's Dolby Atmos Ready? Would it be best to use one of those listed as Atmos Ready?

This speaker is an excellent choice for your application. They are brand new in our catalog and we have not listed them yet as Dolby ATMOS. They exceed the current DOLBY ATMOS specs and with their angled design (15 degree with additional 5 degree for the pivoting tweeter) you will have more options for speaker placement. We now are recommend the ACE-870 for front Stage LCR and the ACE-670 for Effects (DOLBY ATMOS & DTS:X) and Surround In-ceiling Speakers.

What is recommended enclosure volume and amount of polyfill for said enclosure? I am installing in-ceiling w attic access and a speaker box is a must.

Hi Brian:
Probably one to one and half cubic foot will work and then you can experiment in how much fiber fill you will need. The fiber fill makes the box appear bigger depending on how much you use. These woofers are infinite baffle so they can work in a broad range of enclosures. The box will definitely add to the speakers performance. Great choice for LCR, Surround or Effects (ATMOS or DTS:X) speaker.

I am setting up my home theater in a ATMOS 5.1.2 configuration. I have Polk RT Front Right, front left and center channel. My AVR is an Denon AVR-X2400H. Would the ACE670 speakers work well for the ATMOS and rear surround? The room is open in the back so I need to place these speakers in the ceiling. I am concerned with using this as surrounds since the Dolby recommendation is to be at ear level. Would I angle all the speakers toward the MLP? Thanks for your insight.

These ACE670 Angled LCR, Surround and Effects speakers are the perfect speaker for your application. Because of the 15 degree angle and extra 5% swivel of the tweeter it gives you flexibility in where you need to mount them. What Dolby is looking for is to have the Tweeter of each speaker aiming directly at the optimum Viewing/listening area. So both the speakers for ATMOS which will be mounted between you and the front speakers and the Surround speakers which will be behind your seating area can be placed in such a way so that Tweeter is aiming at that optimum site. It is the best choice for an application calling for ceiling speakers. A great selection.

I will be installing the ACE870s as LCR in the ceiling above my TV. Can I use the ACE 670s at the rear speakers installed in the side wall of the room for a 7.1 system? The room is rather small 12 foot between the two side walls. Or would you recommend some other models?

The ACE670 would be perfect for your application. I would recommend putting the three ACE870 in the ceiling above the TV angled down towards the viewing area and then a pair of the ACE670 in the wall that extends from the overhang. Those would be the front ATMOS effects speakers. The second pair I would put in the back wall aiming down (not sure you have access to that wall. These would be the Surround speakers. Depending on your receiver this would be a 5.1.2 system. I will send you your images with locations I am talking about. Look for an email from tim@osdaudio.com. Note, we also have a Square grill kit option for the ACE670 that might look better on the wall as well. I will send info on that.

Checkout the picture of the backside of the ACE670 and you will see 7 of the 10 small Neodymium Magnets mounted into the frame. These do a great job holding the grill in place.
