Relax in the tub and enjoy beautiful sound with this water-resistant 6.5" in-ceiling speaker! With 150W power handling, this in-ceiling speaker is the solution to bringing quality audio to high moisture areas, and is constructed of durable, moisture-resistant materials for use in high-humidity areas such as bathrooms, laundry rooms, kitchens, patios, under outdoor eaves or covered porches. Sold as a single speaker, the ICE600TTWRS offers excellent stereo sound and takes up half the space of a standard speaker pair, while still delivering smooth, 2-channel sound. The aluminum grill cover is rust-resistant for wet application. This weather-resistant speaker was created specifically for an application where you have a right (+/-) and left (+/-) stereo signal coming into a room/ space where you only have space for a single speaker. Just connect one pair of conductors to one set of inputs (+/-) and the second pair of conductors to the second set of inputs.
What Is a Dual Voice Coil Ceiling Speaker?
A Dual Voice Coil (DVC) Ceiling Speaker uses a special voice coil cone design that allows both channels of a stereo system to drive one cone. Sounds complicated but it's not. Basically, a DVC speaker plays both right and left channels through one speaker cone. You get both channels but without the acoustic separation that happens with two speakers. There are places like bathrooms, closets or hallways that just can’t accommodate multiple speakers, so a DVC speaker solves the problem and produces great sound.
How Does this Speaker Mount in the Ceiling?
Customers often ask us if they need special installation mounting brackets on their OSD ceiling speakers. The answer is no and here’s why. All our in-ceiling speakers feature a dog leg (L-shaped) mounting system that is part of the frame. Before you install the speakers, remove the grille and you’ll see several the mounting screws near the front frame. These screws need to be loosened to activate the dog leg clamps. Use a screwdriver to loosen (turn to the left) these screws and the clamp will come loose. When the speaker is in position in the ceiling, tighten (turn to the right) the screw and the speaker will be secured to the ceiling.
What Type of Speaker Wire and What Gauge?
Wiring is not included with in-ceiling speakers so you will have to purchase some. We recommend our OSD Audio CL3/FT4 cable that is UL (fire) rated for in-wall and outdoor speaker installs. This type of cable includes a heavy-duty outer jacket approved for in-wall/in-ceiling installation. The high-quality plastic jacket is also very flexible so it's easy to run the wires inside the wall. As for the gauge, for runs up to 100 feet for background music, 16-gauge will be fine. If the run is approaching or exceeding 100 feet, we suggest 14-gauge wire.
Testing the Sound Quality of In-Ceiling Speakers
Many customers like to test the sound quality of their new OSD Audio in-ceiling speakers before they install them. Keep in mind, however, that these flush-mount speakers are designed to be used in the wall or ceiling. Uninstalled in-wall/in-ceiling speakers will sound weak and tinny because without the proper enclosure (in this case your house wall) the speaker can’t produce the sound pressure level it needs. If you want to try them out, we recommend mounting the in-ceiling speakers into a box of about 3 cubic ft. or larger; or simply mount them in the ceiling and then listen. This will give you an accurate measure of the sound quality.
For a retrofit installation, no construction bracket is needed.

Would these speakers work in the marine environment? are they fully water proof ?
Customer Service • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM
I would love to know the make/ model of a marine environment outdoor celing speaker for our oceanfront covered balcony. Any recommendations?

Can you mount this in a shower? I have a walk-in tiled shower with a glass door with about 8" of clearance above the glass that lets the moisture escape. Would this hold up?
Customer Service • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM
Hi Jrod:
This speaker will work for your application. I would suggest using a bead of Silicon around the backside of the frame to seal off around the hole cutout.

Do you have a wiring diagram? I'm trying to figure out how to run these from my outdoor patio.
Customer Service • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM
Hi Brandon:
You connect these two speakers with a four conductor speaker wire that is color coded: Red; Right +, Black; Right -, White: Left +, Green; Left Negative. Note the speaker features dual inputs each with a red; positive and black; negative connection. It does not matter which you choose to be right or left just that you make sure to connect positive to positive and negative to negative. This becomes a stereo connection to the speaker which sums the two channels into a mono full range signal. If the speaker is within 80 feet of your amplifier we recommend 16/4 CL3/FT4 speaker wire (16 gauge, 4 conductor). If your speaker is more than 30 feet we recommend 14/4 CL3/FT4 (the larger 14 gauge, 4 conductor). CL3 is the rating of the outer jacket approved for in wall or in-ceiling installations. The jacket does not burn but just melts and does not contain toxic fumes. It has nothing to do with what you run through the internal copper conductors. CL2 is residential only, CL3 is residential and some commercial and Plenum rated does all commercial including heating and cooling ducts. CL2, 3 and Plenum are US UL rating's. FT1, FT4 and FT6 are the CSA, Canadian equivalents.

Is there a square grille option?
Customer Service • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM
Hi Mark:
We do not have a square grill option for the ICE 600TT WRS. We do have three square grill ICE series speakers 5.25", 6.5" and 8" but are single voice coil stereo pairs. The 8" are back ordered. We have other options in our Black Series speakers (not advertised on line) with an actual Square kit for a dual Voice Coil 8" speaker. But quite a different price point. Check out OSD Audio.com. You will need to contact us direct us directly for more info.

do you have CSA approve for your stereo in ceiling speakers?
I located in BC Canada.
Customer Service • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM
Hi Augustine:
Our Commercial In-Ceiling Speaker have UL listing with their closed back designs. Our speaker wire has CSA certification, FT4 rated. But we have not had any issue with our in-Ceiling speakers being CSA rated or not. None of our in-ceiling speakers have power or internal amplification.
