Relax in the tub and enjoy beautiful sound with these water-resistant 6.5" in-ceiling speakers! With 150W power handling, these in-ceiling speakers are the solution to bringing quality audio to high moisture areas, and are constructed of durable, moisture-resistant materials for use in high-humidity areas such as bathrooms, laundry rooms, kitchens, under outdoor eaves or covered porches. Sold in pairs, these weather-resistant speakers are also great for covered porches and patios! The aluminum grill cover is rust-resistant for wet application. The ICE600WRS weather-resistant in-ceiling speaker pair works well with a CL3 in-wall rated speaker wire, which is designed to run inside walls.

    Pivoting Tweeter
The job of the tweeter is to deliver the higher frequencies of music and soundtracks. The tweeter is also adjustable, meaning it can be aimed toward the listening area. This can make a big difference in sound quality especially for dialog and higher frequencies.

How Does this Speaker Mount in the Ceiling?
Customers often ask us if they need special installation mounting brackets on their OSD ceiling speakers. The answer is no and here’s why. All our in-ceiling speakers feature a dog leg (L-shaped) mounting system that is part of the frame. Before you install the speakers, remove the grille and you’ll see several the mounting screws near the front frame. These screws need to be loosened to activate the dog leg clamps. Use a screwdriver to loosen (turn to the left) these screws and the clamp will come loose. When the speaker is in position in the ceiling, tighten (turn to the right) the screw and the speaker will be secured to the ceiling.

What Type of Speaker Wire and What Gauge?
Wiring is not included with in-ceiling speakers so you will have to purchase some. We recommend our OSD Audio CL3/FT4 cable that is UL (fire) rated for in-wall and outdoor speaker installs. This type of cable includes a heavy-duty outer jacket approved for in-wall/in-ceiling installation. The high-quality plastic jacket is also very flexible so it's easy to run the wires inside the wall. As for the gauge, for runs up to 100 feet for background music, 16-gauge will be fine. If the run is approaching or exceeding 100 feet, we suggest 14-gauge wire.

Testing the Sound Quality of In-Ceiling Speakers
Many customers like to test the sound quality of their new OSD Audio in-ceiling speakers before they install them. Keep in mind, however, that these flush-mount speakers are designed to be used in the wall or ceiling. Uninstalled in-wall/in-ceiling speakers will sound weak and tinny because without the proper enclosure (in this case your house wall) the speaker can’t produce the sound pressure level it needs. If you want to try them out, we recommend mounting the in-ceiling speakers into a box of about 3 cubic ft. or larger; or simply mount them in the ceiling and then listen. This will give you an accurate measure of the sound quality.

For a retrofit installation, no construction bracket is needed.

James • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM I am currently building a covered back porch on my house and would like to know if the ICE600WRS speakers would work for my application. I am going to have 3 listening areas on the porch, each controlled by its own volume control (SVC300?). 1st area is a 12’x30’ covered screened area with a TV and would include 2 pairs (total of 4 speakers) of the ICE600WRS and would like to listen to the TV or music on these speakers, 2nd area is a 12’x45’ unscreened covered area that would include 2 pairs (total of 4 speakers) of the ICE600WRS, and the 3rd area would be the yard and pool outside of the porch and I would install a pair of AP640 (total 2 speakers) facing out under the eave. Is this enough speakers, should I go with the 8” or the stereo speaker such as the ICE600TTWRS? Would I need a switch box like the ISS4 and an AMP like the AMP200? I attached a sketch of the porch layout to help understand my layout.
    Customer Service • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM
Hi James: would configure your system as follows: Amplifier: AMP200 connected to the DSM4 speaker selector. You will be driving three possibly all four zones. The DSM4 would be connected to (2) SVC300 Impedance-matching volume controls located in the in the smaller screened-in porch in the wall near the door. One would drive 2 pair of ICE600WRS in the 12 x 30 foot room. A second SVC300 would be connected to 2 pair of ICE800WRS for the 12 x 45 foot room. A third Volume Control (the OVC300, outdoor VC) would be mounted outside at the stairs and would connect to 2 pair of AP650. The wire connection from the AMP to the Speaker Selector to the Volume Controls would be done with CL3 14/4 speaker cable (14-gauge 4-conductor, in a single jacket), then 14/2 from the Volume Controls to the each individual speaker. In all three areas, you can run a single 14/2 to the closest right and left speaker of the two pair. You can then run another 14/2 from the input of the first pair of speakers out to the second pair to the second designated pair in each zone. Each volume control has an impedance-matching setting which should be set at a minimum 4x since you will be driving this with an AMP200—a true High Current amplifier. I can send you a basic diagram to your email that is listed under a separate email. There are some ideas I can discuss with you regarding your sources as well. I hope that helps. TL
JAN • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM we are looking at these speakers for our covered patio. do they withstand cold temperatures or should they be taken down during the winter months? are they temperature rated at all?
    Customer Service • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM
Hi jan: You should have no problem mounting this permanently in an enclosed Patio. It would not be necessary to take them out during the winter. TL
Rafael • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM Do you have these in stock? I need 14 speakers for a yoga studio. Six of them will be in a hot yoga room with 100% humidity, 110 heat. Do I need a bracket for these? All the others will be in a gyp board clg...regular type environment.Do I need a bracket for these? Thank you Rafael Pena
    Customer Service • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM
Hi Rafael--Yes, we have enough in stock to cover your needs. The ICE600WRS would be an excellent choice and is treated specifically for environments like you describe. If you're still concerned, you can coat the speaker with clear coat (spray can only) which is available at any local hardware store. New construction brackets are typically used when the studs or joists are exposed before mounting the sheet rock or ceiling tiles. The two advantages of using brackets are: 1) determining exact placement of the speaker while providing a template to cut the mounting hole; and 2) to provide additional support. All of our speakers feature a retrofit mounting system so they can be installed without the new construction bracket. If you decide to use a bracket, the model number is NCCB6 which is in stock. Hope this helps. Namaste! MA/CL
Trey • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM I am looking at using 3 pairs of these speakers for a multi-room set up (outdoor patio, bathroom, dining room). Everything is pre-wired (including volume controls for each area). Can you recommend which volume controls, speaker selector, and amplifier I would need to be able to run all 3 zones (possibly a 4th in the future) at the same time. I would also like the option of turning various zones off and on.
    Customer Service • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM
Hi Trey, Our AMP200 would do the trick and is perfect for 4 zones. We suggest using it with the DSM4 speaker selector and the SVC300 for volume controls. Thanks for your interest in OSD AUDIO. CL/MA 1298
