This 8-inch in-ceiling, weather-resistant speaker pair is ideal for high-humidity areas, including outdoor patios, bathrooms, laundry rooms, and covered porches! With high power handling and an 8-inch polypropylene woofer in each, these speakers deliver superior sound that covers large spaces. With swivel tweeter adjustment, you can easily create sweet spot for your listening area. Better crossover, tweeter and woofer materials add sound quality. The aluminum grill cover is rust-resistant for wet application. These weather-resistant indoor/ outdoor in-ceiling speakers work well with a CL3 in-wall rated speaker wire, which is designed to run inside walls.
Pivoting Tweeter
The job of the tweeter is to deliver the higher frequencies of music and soundtracks. The tweeter is also adjustable, meaning it can be aimed toward the listening area. This can make a big difference in sound quality especially for dialog and higher frequencies.
How Does this Speaker Mount in the Ceiling?
Customers often ask us if they need special installation mounting brackets on their OSD ceiling speakers. The answer is no and here’s why. All our in-ceiling speakers feature a dog leg (L-shaped) mounting system that is part of the frame. Before you install the speakers, remove the grille and you’ll see several the mounting screws near the front frame. These screws need to be loosened to activate the dog leg clamps. Use a screwdriver to loosen (turn to the left) these screws and the clamp will come loose. When the speaker is in position in the ceiling, tighten (turn to the right) the screw and the speaker will be secured to the ceiling.
What Type of Speaker Wire and What Gauge?
Wiring is not included with in-ceiling speakers so you will have to purchase some. We recommend our OSD Audio CL3/FT4 cable that is UL (fire) rated for in-wall and outdoor speaker installs. This type of cable includes a heavy-duty outer jacket approved for in-wall/in-ceiling installation. The high-quality plastic jacket is also very flexible so it's easy to run the wires inside the wall. As for the gauge, for runs up to 100 feet for background music, 16-gauge will be fine. If the run is approaching or exceeding 100 feet, we suggest 14-gauge wire.
Testing the Sound Quality of In-Ceiling Speakers
Many customers like to test the sound quality of their new OSD Audio in-ceiling speakers before they install them. Keep in mind, however, that these flush-mount speakers are designed to be used in the wall or ceiling. Uninstalled in-wall/in-ceiling speakers will sound weak and tinny because without the proper enclosure (in this case your house wall) the speaker can’t produce the sound pressure level it needs. If you want to try them out, we recommend mounting the in-ceiling speakers into a box of about 3 cubic ft. or larger; or simply mount them in the ceiling and then listen. This will give you an accurate measure of the sound quality.
For a retrofit installation, no construction bracket is needed.

Hi, Will these speakers work with a 70V Transformer?
Customer Service • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM
Hi Dylan:
Any 8-ohm speaker will work with 70V as long as you add an inline Transformer like our Weatherproof OSD-EW70V. It will give you 5 tap setting (2.5, 5, 10, 15, 20W) based upon how much wattage you have available and how many speakers you are planning to use in your system. You typically know how many watts your 70V amplifier has. Let say it is a 240-watt amplifier like our PAM245. Which is rated at 240-watts. The rule of thumb for 70V tells us you have 80% of 240 watts available. That would leave you with 192 watts to work with. If you set the tap at 20W that means you can do 9 speakers at 20W to work with (total, 180W) your 192 watts. If you set each speaker to 15 watts then you could have 12 for 180 watts and probably could go one more for a total of 195 watts which is close enough. One last note you do not have to set all taps the same so you have some flexibility in the setup where one speaker at 15w would play at a lower volume than another speaker set to the 20W setting.
Hopefully, that helps, good luck

Hello, I have two questions. First is what thickness of ceiling will the “dog ears” accommodate? I have around 1-1/4” thickness. The second questions is what receiver would you recommend that would handle multiple speakers in 3 separate locations and can have 3 TV monitors? The areas I am looking to cover is our garage, gym and outdoor kitchen / dining area.
Merry Christmas and thank you!

Hi Mark:
Dog ears are good to 1.25" for 6.5" and 8.0". I suggest adding our NERO Stream XD for each TV for Wi-Fi and Bluetooth wireless streaming. There is also an Optical or Line input, depending on which works better for your TV. It also features a subwoofer output and includes wall mount brackets for mounting the XD behind the TV. There is a free download of the OSD Player App where you control each separately or even group together to stream over Wi-Fi. Each XD is 4-ohm stable and can connect one to two pairs of the ICE800WRS.. They also feature an internal Audiophile grade DAC 16-24 bit, 44 to 192kHz range.

Do these speakers have Bluetooth capabilities?
Customer Service • 03/15/2023, 6:01:00 PM
Hi Jordan:
These speakers must be hardwired to an Amplifier/Receiver that may have internal Bluetooth built-in or have an external Bluetooth receiver

I am considering the speakers as a replacement for two ceiling speakers each 10" in diameter. Will these speakers fit in the holes that have been cut?
Customer Service • 03/29/2023, 6:30:55 PM
The cutout hole on the ICE800WRS is 9.06", and the Diameter of the frame is 10.24". Check your speakers' specs to see if 10" is cutout or diameter. You could just measure the hole after removing the speaker. If the hole is 10", the ICE$RS will fit with a .25-inch margin for error. If the hole is 9" or less, you would have to make the hole a little bigger. The speakers come with a cutout hole template.
